Happy June!
If you’ve been following the network, you know that we’ve been “refreshing” through listening with reflection and intention, in April and May.
This month, we continue our focus on listening, with the “listening with courage” challenge.
I invite you to listen with courage--because, listening takes courage.
The courage to:
delay your interest, in service to the speaker
“not know” what will transpire
change or suspend your position, if required
(What would you add to this list?)
Listening with courage is an act of advocacy--for ourselves, our clients, and our communities. To be a part of change in our lives and in the lives of those we serve, listening is one of the most powerful and basic acts available for us to embrace.
Yes, therapists are skilled listeners. Likely, more skilled than most. However, we, too, encounter barriers to fully listening.
Through this month’s challenge, you’ll reflect on the call to listen with courage, and learn how to listen "loudly."
I’ll be listening along with you!
